Manipur journalists carried out a protest rally in Imphal demanding the immediate release of fellow journalist Kishorchandra Wangkhemcha who was arrested by the police because of his Facebook posts. They held protest rally from Manipur Press Club to the Chief Minister’s bungalow on August 11. It also reminds media owners that institutional strength and respect is directly linked to editorial independence and undermining the former can result in curtailing the latter. In a major victory for DMK as after hearing the long arguments, the Madras High Court allowed burial space next to Anna Memorial on Marina Beach for the great leader and five times CM M Karunanidhi.
