In a major political development just a day before Karnataka polling, the Congress today submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission of India requesting it to direct immediate disqualification of BJP senior leader Sriramulu and CEO Karnataka to lift ban on Kanadda TV channels from showing the tapes of Sriramulu-Judge Bribery Sting expose. This was disclosed by Congress leader Kapil Sibal and Randeep Singh Surjewala while addressing a press conference in New Delhi.
The sting video was aired by Kanadda TV channels in the evening yesterday. In a 40 minute video, it is alleged that the BJP candidate B. Sriramulu and three other individuals (identified as G. Janardhan Reddy, Captain Reddy and Swamiji) are seen sitting with the son-in-law of a former Chief Justice of India. They were allegedly discussing the payment of money to the CJI’s son-in-law to secure a favourable judgement of the Supreme court for the Reddy brothers in mining case. After the telecast of video, the Karnataka Electorate Authorities has issued a notice to the news channels for not to air the sting video.
